Book Club!

Book Club

3/13/2019
Hello!! We finished up Lions of Little Rock and talked about what a true friend is!

We chose The City of Ember as our next read! See you in two weeks!!

2/27/2019
We celebrated a tremendous birthday today! We also started discussing the first part of Lions of Little Rock. This book is great but some of the topics in it are difficult, so we discussed what made us uncomfortable and gained better understanding of them. It can be tricky reading a book that is based in another time when things were very different than they are now.

2/13/2019
Restart!! What a tremendous book! We finished discussing and all ended up loving this book!
Our next book, is a little more difficult, but with help we can get through it! Lions of Little Rock!

1/30/19

We had a small group this week, but that's okay!! We discussed the first half of the book Restart. What a great books and very eye opening. Think about it, if you were given a second chance in life what would you do??

We also talked about a future library book sale to happen sometime in April. AND March Madness!

Our next meeting we will be discussing the rest of the book...and playing a fun game!

1/16/19
Happy New Year!!!

We discussed the book Trapped by Michael Northrop. What would you do if you were stuck in a school during a blizzard??!
I also brought up the library's Bookmark Contest which is starting!! It is a fun chance to show off your creativity AND have a chance to win a free book!

The next book we are reading is Restart by Gordon Korman. A school bully gets a second chance at life... find out more by reading this incredible book! PS it is also an MSBA!!

12/12/18
Fun way to end the year, Movie Night!!

11/28/18
Great time discussing the rest of Tesla's Attic. We chose our next book, Trapped! And planned our Movie Night with The Sorcerer's Apprentice!

11/14/18
What a fun meeting!! We learned about who Nikola Tesla was and what he did for the world. We enjoyed cookies made by Mrs. Rivard and discussed the first part of the book.

For our next meeting on November 28th we will be finishing the book and discussing it!

11/1/18
Happy Halloween Everyone!! We had a hauntingly good meeting yesterday. We each wrote a short scary story and shared them.  What great imaginations and writing! I was blown away!

For our next meeting on November 14th, we will be reading the first 13 chapters of Tesla's Attic by Neal Shusterman and Eric Elfman. Come by the library to get your copy today!!

10/18/18
What a great meeting, we discussed the book Eva by Peter Dickinson. It was a challenging book but a good one none the less. We also discussed the next meeting which will be on Halloween after school. We will not be reading a book for that meeting, instead, each of us will be writing a short scary story to share!

We also began the Book Club 2018-2019 notebook. In it we will each contribute to a story, writing a few pages and then passing it along to the next writer. This will create a great story that everyone contributed to. If you finish the story, Great! bring it back so that someone can start a new one!

10/4/18
Our second meeting we discussed Scar Island! What a great book! We also played Kahoot, if you missed it here is the quiz!
We also chose the next book that we will be discussing, Eva by Peter Dickinson. Pick up a copy in the library.

Further more we talked about our Halloween meeting! Yes we are meeting on Halloween! We are't reading anything in particular but we are writing! Join us for treats and fun and bring your own short scary story either written by you or found!

9/19/18
What a great first meeting! For those who were unable to attend don't worry. We discussed what book club will be like, what genres we liked and decided on a book that we are all going to read for our next meeting on October 3rd after school. We are going to read "Scar Island" by Dan Gemeinhart. If you would like to participate pick up a copy at the library and join us at our next meeting where we will discuss the book, and play games about the book.
**Fun side note: "Scar Island" is a MSBA so all of you who read it can fill out a slip and be one book closer to voting for your favorite book and a fun celebration!

Check it out!

What would you do if the lights go out?
